French Gerleman & IAC Supply Solutions Merge to Create Regional Electrical Distribution Powerhouse

Effective July 1, 2021, St. Louis-based French Gerleman and Memphis-based IAC Supply Solutions have merged, a move that greatly expands both companies’ capabilities, provides new product offerings, and enhances the services required to best meet our customers’ ever-evolving needs. The new company, named Agilix Solutions and headquartered in St. Louis, will remain partnered with the best-in-class manufacturers both companies currently represent. Because of our larger size and expanded regional footprint, we’ll be able to bring a greater depth of resources and expertise to our work to enhance the solutions we provide for customers, the product knowledge required to best represent our manufacturer partners, and the scale to support our employees in meeting their business and career goals.

French Gerleman and IAC Solutions Merge

Both French Gerleman and IAC are independent, family-owned businesses that share roots dating back a hundred years or more, corporate values placing people at the forefront of all we do, and a desire to be positioned for a future of strength. We have long histories of sustained excellence, common values, and transforming our businesses to meet our customers’ needs for today and tomorrow. Each of us brings complementary strengths in terms of our teams, product lines, service offerings and the geographical regions we serve. Agilix Solutions remains an independent distributor, demonstrating the flexibility and agility required to support customers’ business objectives in a fast-moving world.

A Stronger Future Together

As both companies considered a merger, we realized that French Gerleman and IAC Supply Solutions were a perfect fit. The two companies have so much in common, as we’ve mentioned above, and so many aspects of our business that complement each other well.

Since 1923, French Gerleman has maintained a reputation for innovation, service excellence, and commitment to employees and community. As a fifth-generation family-owned business, the company has helped customers through many transitions as they’ve navigated advancements in technology, communications, and general market trends. French Gerleman operates six branch locations throughout Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois.

IAC was founded in 1895 in Memphis, Tennessee, and serves electrical, automation, industrial, commercial and residential construction markets. The company has been locally owned by the Langley family since 1985, and is now under third generation leadership. The company has been named among the Fastest Growing Companies in Memphis by the Memphis Business Journal and currently operates seven branch locations across West Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. This expands the Agilix Solutions collective presence to 13 branches across six states throughout the region.

For both companies, this merger ushers in the next phase of our business as we serve our customers, manufacturer partners, and team members into the next hundred years.

What’s Next?

We begin operating as one company effective July 1, 2021, and will continue doing business as French Gerleman and IAC until we will officially transition to the Agilix Solutions branding.

A team has been hard at work in recent months to ensure a smooth transition of workflows, so we anticipate minimal disruptions to business. While we do anticipate some organizational shifts later this year, our teams will continue to operate from our 13 branches and represent the industry leading brands for which we’re known. French Gerleman President Mike Stanfill will serve as CEO of Agilix, and IAC President Darrell Smith will serve as President.

We’re excited about the future of possibilities this merger, which has brought two strong companies together, will deliver to our customers, manufacturer partners and team.
