Meet FDA & UL Requirements with LUTZE SILFLEX® FBP Cables

Safe and sanitary conditions are essential in the food and beverage industry. Manufacturing and processing facilities must meet both UL and FDA compliance requirements, which can often be at odds. The FDA requires that all equipment and machines meet the standards of 21 CFR, which calls for components such as cables to be sanitary, easy to clean, and safe for food contact. On the UL side, the use of flame retardants is necessary to meet NFPA 79 and NEC regulations and UL Flame Test requirements. However, many of the flame retardants used to meet these requirements are not food safe.

LUTZE has solved this problem with the introduction of its LUTZE SILFLEX® FBP cables. Their innovative, patent-pending design achieves compliance with UL Flame Test requirements and FDA food contact requirements outlined in 21 CFR.

The FDA-Compliant Cable for Your Food Manufacturing Facility

The cutting-edge design of LUTZE SILFLEX® FBP is sanitary and safe for food contact. This innovative cable has been third party evaluated by Ecolab for resistance against commonly used cleaning agents and chemicals used in food and beverage washdown procedures.

Cables which cannot undergo frequent washdown cycles may become hazardous as the materials degrade over time. A compromised cable jacket will eventually lead to cable failure and result in a safety hazard. Cables for the food and beverage industry should be certified for washdown resistance. The LUTZE SILFLEX® FBP line meets this need.

Additional cable features include:

  • Reduced diameter for easy routing through conduit
  • Installation without conduit in some areas due to the external wiring approval, washdown certification, and food contact rating
  • Reduced contamination risk with its food-safe design

LUTZE SILFLEX® FBP cables come in three configurations to meet your specific needs:

  1. Shielded control
  2. Unshielded control
  3. Shielded motor cable

All LUTZE SILFLEX® FBP cables are proudly manufactured in the United States. For more information on how you can upgrade your facility with the use of the LUTZE SILFLEX® FBP cable, please contact your Agilix Solutions Account Manager, or reach out to us online today.
