The importance of safety is crucial when servicing electrical equipment. To comply with NFPA 70E, workers must test to verify an electrically safe work condition which is a multi-step, time-consuming process.
Panduit launched their new VeriSafe™ Access Control Kit to provide an added layer of protection by preventing enclosure doors from being opened until the absence of voltage is confirmed. Combined with a new or existing VeriSafe™ Absence of Voltage Tester (AVT), this solution will:
- Deliver a compact, efficient, best practice solution to install interlocks in your equipment.
- Provide a heavy-duty locking mechanism with design labor and assembly savings.
- Reduce workplace hazards through design by further protecting operators and non-electrical personnel from electrical hazards.
The VeriSafe™ Access Control Kit incorporates smart technology, enhanced safety, ease of installation and robust design. When the VeriSafeTM AVT confirms the absence of voltage, a signal is sent to disengage the lock. The system can be powered by auxiliary power within the enclosure or via an optional battery.
How the Panduit VeriSafe™ Access Control Kit Works
STEP 1: Flip your disconnect and turn off the power in your panel.
STEP 2: Run the AVT test and wait for green LED light to appear.
STEP 3: If the green LED light appears the door will unlock, and access is permitted to the panel. If the green LED light does not appear, the door will remain latched and locked. A mechanical override feature is available, if needed.

Panduit’s VeriSafe™ Absence of Voltage Tester
The VeriSafe™ Access Control Kit must be combined with an existing or new VeriSafeTM AVT in order to function. When servicing electrical equipment, safety regulations require verifying an electrically safe work condition which can include many complex and time-consuming stages.
The VeriSafe™ Absence of Voltage Tester from Panduit simplifies this process by automating the voltage verification process. Once installed, a simple push of a button allows workers to verify the absence of voltage, enabling access to the panel through the Panduit VeriSafe™ Access Control Kit.
